Zoo Boy Baby!
The family set a goal to make it to the National Zoo in DC today. We got up early, got dressed, and ate breakfast. It was time to go...

Early to rise is easy for Robert.

We found a nice parking spot because we got there nice and early. The first stop was the animals on the farm exhibit. Robert always loves the miniature ponies, and once again was excited as ever to see them. He was shouting out, calling them things like "Dat" and "Disa" and "Begalbegal". I'm not sure what that means, but it must be slang for pony. I took a cute picture of him sticking his head into their coral...well, it was more like him trying to crawl into their pen.

After the ponies, we started to walk up to the Pizza Garden; a place where there is a really big foam pizza on the ground, surrounded by all the plants that help make a pizza. This is almost a sure win with any kid with too much energy than they know what to do with. We had one small wipe out on the pepperoni, which ended our fun in the pizza room prematurely. It was then off to see the prairie dogs. I think this is Robert favoriate part of the zoo, and they move a lot which makes it easy to watch them. The most difficult part of this exhibit is keeping Robert from climbing into the prairie dog pen.

After the prairie dogs, we made out way to see the Elephants, and then the bird exhibit. Robert's favorite part of the bird exhibit were the big plastic flaps that hang in front of the door to keep the air and birds in. I think he wanted to play in that all day :)

After the bird exhibit, it was off to see the Pandas. For a bear, those things sure don't move very much. After fighting our way to the front, we got to see the bear's but Robert had a hard time staying focused on the black and white fur ball that didn't move. So it was off to snack time (mommy's request) to get some snacks and drink. They had a cute deal for children called the Junior Zookeeper. Robert got a yogurt, fries, apple sauce and a nice new panda container. He was happy all day long, and that is the way we like it.

My body is still recovering from tiling the new shower yesterday (Saturday). It is almost complete, and I only have a 2'x3' section of one wall left. It will be nice to finally get this all done, and have a new working shower in the house. Love to all, and hope you enjoy Sunday's story.
